WHERE IS THE VAN?

After a good work out, I took a shower then headed out to proceed to the waiting room of 24-Hour Fitness on Montgomery Street. There, husband was seated at the reception and was waiting for me. He smiled and greeted me then suddenly, he stood up and said,

"Our vehicle was impounded."

My heartfelt response was, "Oh give me a break not for a Monday morning!!!"

"Gosh." I addeed. "This is not good." Then, I asked him about where we were to pick it up? He mentioned the address.

Then, I began to talk...

"Well, I thought that this is not working right because the day before, you lost your driver's license and you only had the photocopy of it with you. Now, the van is gone and towed."

Soon enough, we left the gym and walked fast Montgomery. We were lucky on that day since we saw this cab that was parked near the hotel entrance door. On regular days, there are no cabs available. If you need one, you would have to call a yellow taxi company by phone to request for a cab to come at your designated location. But that day, we were lucky to have found one. Husband asked the driver if he was taking passengers. He nodded then off, we got in.

Inside the cab, husband gave the address to the Middle Eastern driver on where to get impounded cars in the city. And after about a fifteen minute hike, we finally arrived at the place near Mission district. We got out of the cab and entered the small concrete building where three Latina women were handling the business end of impounded cars.

For our penalty, we were charged $200.00 for parking on Montgomery Street after 7 AM. Husband paid the penalty using his American Express.

Golly, that was a lot of money to give to the city of SFO!

Fifteen minutes later, we were led to the parking space where all impounded vehicles were parked. I saw ours in the midst of everything. Seconds later, a Latino guy manifested; collected the receipt from husband and said, "WAIT HERE." So we did.

Finally, he zoomed out and drove our van; got off then parked it right in front of us. Then, we hopped in.

Husband drove quietly then in a second, we both had a good laugh.

"Two hundred bucks! Haha! Oh, that's a lot of money!"

Yes. I told him that he better do things right since there are a lot of laws and penalties as far as parking is concerned in San Francisco and I tell you, it is not cheap living in this city!
