LABYRINTH is an ancient symbol of life's journey, differs from maze, which has dead ends. A labyrinth has only one path to follow. In the medieval period, the labyrinth became popular among Christians as a way to make a pilgrimage when one could not travel to a holy site. Many cathedrals had labyrinths.
