Also Known As (A.K.A.)
The North Beach District
It is San Francisco's most European neighborhood. There are lots of cafes, restaurants and shops in this place. There is also the famous St. Francis of Assisi Church that is located near the park. Italian is still being spoken in some parts of this district.
Here are some photos I have taken this morning along Grant, Kearny, Stockton and Columbus Avenue. At night, things here get even livelier. For more than a century North Beach has been a predominantly Italian neighborhood. North Beach is still the Little Italy of the West Coast, with a growing Chinese population blending into the mix. The quietest time in North Beach is the morning. North Beach is walking distance from dowtown and Financial Districts. St. Francis of Assisi Church (610 Vallejo), established June 17, 1849, during the Gold Rush, is the first parish church, first parish school and site of the first ordination of a priest in California.
